CP-Ti and γ-TiAl barsticks have been atomizedrnby the ceramic-free Electrode Induction-meltrnInert Gas Atomization (EIGA) technique. Torndate, the EIGA technique had been limited tornrelatively small feedstock dimensions (ca. ?50-rn60mm) and relatively low melt flow rates (ca. 5-rn50 kg/h). In this work, the feedstock dimensionsrnand melt flow rates were significantly increasedrn(ca. triplicated). Steady-state process conditionsrnhave been achieved at melt flow rates of up torn90 kg/h with feedstock dimensions of up torn?140mm. These achievements enable to utilizerntitanium alloy VAR electrodes as feedstock forrnthe EIGA and to atomize titanium powder atrnsignificantly lower specific gas consumption.
