As a new electrolyte system, (CH_3)_4NF· mHF (m = 3.0 ~5.0) melts, were electrolyzed using a LiNiO_2 coated Ni sheet anode to obtain (CF_3)_3N. (CF_3)_3N was successfully obtained at a ratio of about 30% together with other partially fluorinated gaseous products. Ionic and nonionic species existing in the (CH_3)_4NF· mHF melts were analyzed by IR, Raman spectroscopy, and NMR. The results of the electrolysis were correlated with a change in the distribution of the species in the melts.
