ADAPTING THE SPECIATION OF THE VOCS EMISSION INVENTORY IN THE GREATER ATHENS AREA

An adaptation procedure of a new emission inventory of the Greater Athens Area is attempted, based on a sensitivity analysis on the treatment of the VOC emissions. Through this procedure the impact that a more detailed treatment of the VOCs emissions might have on the atmospheric chemistry simulations, is examined. For this analysis three different chemical mechanisms were applied for two different locations (urban and city plume) with different VOC and NO_X mixture characteristics. Finally, this study recommends new carbon fractions, reflecting the local conditions in Athens basin.
