A simple integral method is presented to analyze the settlement response of a typical pile-soil system in soft ground reinforced with cement-soil piles due to vertical load. The load added in the pile-soil system is divided into three parts: the load along the pile, the load at the bottom of the pile and the load on soil. The relationship of load and settlement in typical pile-soil system of composite ground can be expressed analytically by employing Mindlin's displacement solution of force at a point in the interior of a semi-infinite solid. The prediction of settlement is shown to be in good agreement with field measurements. Settlement of a pile-soil system in composite ground is shown not to be sensitive to the Young's modulus of the piles. This method makes it possible to predict the load-settlement curve of a typical pile-soil system by simple loading tests.
