Statistical analysis of prognostic mesoscale flow model results in the frame of APSIS

Taking into account all available observations, results of several models applied to APSIS exercises A and A' are subject to a statistical analysis as an attempt towards a model evaluation. The procedure is applied to the wind velocity, the wind direction and the air temperature. For greater clarity, statistical quantities are calculated which allow averaging deviations between measurements and corresponding model results. Results for a special site are used to comment on the capability of the models to predict specific flow features at a selected location in the Athens basin.
