Synergistic antimicrobial effects by combining photodynamic therapy with an antiseptic drug

For treatment of local infections, photodynamic therapy with toluidine blue O was combined with the application of an antiseptic drug. This combination resulted in synergistic effects in killing pathogenic Staphylococcus aureus and the multiresistant strain MRSA.
