The dynamic response of the gravity dam under the penetration and explosion of a single GBU-28 EPW, which attacked the dam from the top of the dam vertically, is studied by applying numerical simulation technique in the paper. Also the safety of the dam and its' damage degree after the attack are analyzed. The static problem and dynamic problem should be simultaneously considered in the numerical simulation, and the implicit static analysis is carried out firstly. Then the dynamic response of the penetration is carried out by taking the results of the static analysis as the initial conditions. Finally, the combined damaging process of the penetration and explosion of the EPW is calculated by building the combined calculation model. Also the mathematic describing function of the input boundary conditions in the combined calculation process is built. The calculation results visualized the whole action process of the warhead to the dam.
