Novel processing routes to ceramic composites for: i. materials having an interpenetrating (duplex ) microstructure (SiC-B_4C composites ), ii. nanocomposites (Si_3N_4 or Sialon-based composites), iii. nanolaminates (Ti_3SiC_2-polycrystaline laminate materials) have been considered. The solid combustion method can be advantageously used for fabrication of these materials. Microstructure and some of mechanical properties were presented. It has been shown that a use of solid combustion-derived composite powders for production of these materials permits to simplify the processing to materials having an adequate microstructure.
