An advanced sunspace has been constructed and monitored as part of a Demonstration project for the European Commission in the UK. The ability of a sophisticated computer model, to mimic the measured performance has been confirmed. The same model is driven with climate data for London, Copenhagen, Denver, and Nice, to illustrate the positive and negative effects of sunspaces on energy performance.rnThe results show that the optimised and unheated sunspace, although extremely popular with its owners in the UK, saves very little energy in the house, whereas when placed in the cold sunny climate of Denver it would be a substantial energy saver. The situation in Copenhagen is similar to the UK, and in Nice the savings are small, but for different reasons.
