EFFECTS OF IODINE ON APOPTOSIS IN DIFFERENT SEX RAT THYROID

摘要

The aim of this study was to observe the effects of short-term iodine deficiency and excess on apoptosis and apoptosis-related genes expression (Fas,Fas-L,Bcl-2,and Bax) of thyroid on different time and in different sex rat.A total of ninety Wistar rats were used.The thyroids of the rats were stained with HE and immunohistochemistry,and observed under light microscope for morphological changes and expression of the apoptosis-related proteins.MIAS-2000 image analysis system was used to measure the percentage of positive expression area of thyroid follicular cells expressing Fas,Fas-L,Bcl-2,Bax proteins.Our results indicated that short-term iodine deficiency and excess intake does not cause apoptosis of thyroid and does not change the expression of apoptosis-related genes significantly.But short-term iodine excess intake may result in increasing the expression of pro-apoptosis and anti-apoptosis genes,and obviously in male rats.Sex effects the expression of apoptosis-related genes on the thyroid cells to a certain extent.
