This article describes how a medical problem can be solved by cooperation of physicians and kinematicists. Since the process of cutting with scissors is strongly non-linear, solutions are wanted that improve the surgeon's control of operation. One approach was the use of a four-bar-linkage that was integrated between operating and blades. The variety of four-bar-linkages offers a multitude of different transmission curves. Considering the part of the transmission curve, which is reciprocal to the actual cutting process, the movement between operation and process can be linearised.
