A 99.9% Silver was cold-rolled to 93% reduction and annealed at different temperature. The results show that the cold-rolled and recrystallization texture, in principle, agree with previous works. In order to explain the texture change, a model of brass recrystallization, which was developed by Bunge and others, was used, In this model the orientation change during annealing is assumed to be determined by n-generation twinning and by the fast growing orientation. However, the factors to determine the twin process and the fast growing orientation are remained to be solved. In this paper a grain boundary migration model is proposed in which the migration direction is determined by the surface energy difference of the neighboring crystal planes, low energy planes tend to grow. With such a concept the twinning process and the "fast growing" texture component can be understood.
