STUDY OF DIGITAL FASHION PATTERN LIBRARY SYSTEM

Pattern-making is the key section in the chain of fashion manufacture . It is only skilled personnel with professional knowledge and rich experiences who could undertake such work. This study focuses on the digital library that has been widely used in many other industries but not much in fashion industry. The article aims at proposing a concept of developing an on-line library of garment pattern based on web network. This digital library concentrates on a pattern database, on which different patterns are listed by category. Database also covers silhouette, fabric materials and production processing technical instruction, all of which would be integrated as a comprehensive digital garment library. The terminal user is enabled to look up and obtain the patterns and ether information from the system, and uses the pattern for production directly or with some modifications. This is to say, users at different level can share the expertise' knowledge and experience by sharing the information stored in the network. The pattern library would be helpful for the garment companies not only to improve their technology and production efficiency, but also to making up the skills that a new pattern cutter may be weak at.
