In the paper, the influencing factors on permeability of the textile vascular prostheses have been firstly analyzed in theory. The permeability of textile vascular prostheses with different construction was tested with permeability test instrument, which was designed and manufactured on the basis of the ISO 7198. Mean pore size of fabrics is characterized by CFP-1100-AI Porometer instrument. In addition, the porosity of fabrics was also tested according to the ISO 7198. The experimental results showed that the porosity of fabric would influence the water permeability to a great extent, but the water permeability showed visible deviation when the construction of fabrics are different, even if the porosity of fabrics is similar. While the mean pore size of the fabric has preferable linear correlation to the water permeability in condition that there are general difference in the fabric structure. Further analysis indicated the mean pore size couldnt reflect the water permeability directly when the constructions of fabrics are different enough. Anyway, the mean pore size has much bearing on the water permeability. For the characterization of vascular prosthesis wall, the mean pore size and pore size distribution should be introduced, excepting for water permeability and porosity, in order to express well the performance of permeability and healing in vivo.
