摘要

The Baltic Sea has recently turned into a dumping site for all sorts of industrial, military and household waste from the surrounding countries. Overfishing, hazardous substances and Irresponsible Marine Activities brought vast damage to the sea. Seven of the ten biggest `Dead Zones' in the world are in the Baltic Sea, right in Europe's backyard. The Baltic Sea is naturally prone to developing `dead zones' due to its geographical situation which limits its ability to exchange water with the Atlantic Ocean. A combination of natural and man-made factors are gradually bringing the vulnerable ecosystem of the Baltic Sea on the edge of collapse. Pollution is a direct consequence of our throwaway generation culture, where industry is becoming a way of life. This project is an architectural exploration of macro to micro scale remediation strategies for the Baltic Sea as well as a social message, calling to raise general awareness about the constantly degrading natural environment due to the destructive impact of human activities.
