With the rapid development of international LWD technology, several large service companies have launched LWD systems with measurement of various formation parameters. CNPC has independently developed the first triple combo Formation Evaluation Logging While Drilling(FELWD)system in China, including the Azimuthal Gamma & Induction Resistivity Logging Tool, Wave Propagation Resistivity Logging Tool, and Controllable Neutron Po rosity Logging Tool. These tools can measure formation parameters such as lithology, saturation, and porosity, and provide comprehensive interpretation and evaluation of formation parameters and drilling engineering parame ters at the well site. Field tests and application show that the system can meet the needs of drilling and LWD, and the real -time acquisition data can indicate the changes of formation boundaries and properties. It uses a Pulsed Neutron Genetrator instead of q chemical source, which makes LWD neutron porosity logging safer, cleaner, and more efficient. This system can be applied in basic LWD formation evaluation of high angle/horizontal wells.
