RUSSIAN SPACE SCIENCE PROGRAM

Space science projects that constitute a major part of the Federal Space Program of Russia, for the period 2001-2005, are briefly described. Some of the projects (those in Phase B) are being realized; others constitute prospects for the more remote future. The cutting of funding caused major slowing-down of the progress in realization of many projects. Most attention is paid here to the automatic missions. The Russian scientific program for the International Space Station is at the moment very flexible. We briefly describe the launchers that are to be used for space science in the forthcoming decade. In the Russian reality a "conversion" approach seems to be most effective for the next 5-10 years.
