Characterization of Lithium Ion Batteries with in situ X-Ray Tomography and Radiography

Two kinds of prototypes of lithium ion batteries (LIBs) for in situ X-ray tomography and radiography are reported. Tomography cells (tomo-cells) and radiography cells (radio-cells) both assembled with silicon/carbon (Si/C) or tin/carbon (Sn/C) working electrodes and Li counter electrodes were investigated with synchrotron X-ray and laboratory X-ray imaging. The structural changes of individual electrode particles during charging and discharging were analyzed. Here we are providing a brief overview to our recent results on this field.
