For years; the EIFS industry has relied on Adhesion-in-Peel Testing (ASTM C 794) for determining both the compatibility and acceptability of sealants used in EIF Systems. Althgough peel adhesion is an important parameter, it does not represent field conditions. Therferfore, it was necessary to develop a standard test method which addressed EIFS in a working joint. A method was developed which closely parallels ASTM C 1135 - standard Test Method for Determining Tensile Adhesion Properties of Structural Sealants. The proposed method is currently under consideration by the ASTM C 24.20.12 Tack Group where round robin testing is underway.
