Carbon nanofibers (CNFs) were effectively synthesized at low temperature (350 ~ 600℃) from ethylene-hydrogen mixture over Ni alloys (NiFe and NiMo) on a particular carbon black (CB). Controlling the catalyst composition and the reduction/reaction condition affected significantly the diameter of CNFs. Iron and molybdenum as a secondary metal appeared to play a different role in controlling the diameter of CNF. The structure of produced CNFs was examinated by SEM and HR-TEM.
