摘要

Composting is becoming more and more attractive as a biosolids management alternative.rnLand-use pressures and increased regulation of land application and injection, liquidsrnrestrictions at landfills, and flourishing markets for high quality compost all support thernfeasibility of composting. However, the costs and operational complexities of anrnexemplary biosolids composting operation still present challenges that may discouragernmany potential compost operators from entering the field. Advantages of operating on anrnintermediate cover on a compatible Subtitle D landfill can be many – philosophical, rnoperational, financial, and sometimes even regulatory. Those advantages may be enoughrnto sway otherwise skeptical participants toward the biosolids composting arena.
