The overwhelming goal to maintain a pollution-freernenvironment whilst providing a hazardous–free operationrnnecessitate the oil and gas companies to embark onrnmaintaining the integrity of its mature infrastructure that mayrnhave a high potential for frequent failures due torninternal/external corrosion, mechanical failures, aging and lackrnof maintenance.rnTherefore, it is necessary for those companies to correctrnthe reactive approach in their operations and to start beingrnproactive especially in the integrity-related issues. In thisrnpaper, a brief discussion will be reviewed to reflect and torndemonstrate the necessary activities and action plansrnrecommended to oil and gas operators in order to safely keeprnthe hydrocarbon inside its container by maintaining thernintegrity of the handling facilities in order to protect thernoperators, surrounding environment and the long-term value torncompany’s shareholders.rnThis vision requires company’s operators to develop anrnintegrity management plan and self assessment programs tornaddress the condition of the facilities in order to control itsrnfailures, maintain its mechanical integrity and to assure its safernoperation.rnA tailored PS/IM (Process Safety / Integrity Management)rnProgram could be used by operators to identify the areas ofrngreatest impact to the environment/safety, establish thernnecessary course of actions to remedy the deficiencies,rndetermine the current condition and the remainingrnlife for each facility, refurbish the aged infrastructure andrnmaintain its integrity.rnThis practice could be transferred to all oil and gasrncompanies to help them in keeping hazards-free operationsrnand to maintain pollution-free environment in order to protectrnthe safety of employees and community meanwhile complyingrnwith environmental laws and regulations.
