Risk-based Decision Support for Planning of an Underbalanced Drilling Operation

As a part of planning the first well utilizing underbalancedrndrilling technology in Norway, a comprehensive risk analysisrnis performed, comparing risk associated with underbalancedrnand conventional, overbalanced drilling. The development of arnnew risk analysis method is described. It is concluded that forrnthe given case, underbalanced drilling reduces blowout riskrnconsiderably.
