In most national codes for the desigh of cold formed shapes the corner radii are assumed to provide simply supported edges at the terminations of the flat widths. This study, using direct theoretical analysis and numerical analysis by means of the finite element program, ABAQUS, provides a more realistic picture of the influence of corner radii on the initial buckling stress and on the postbuckling strength. Comparisons are made with Code requirements.
