In civil engineering fields, geological survey using boring is often performed to obtainrngeotechnical parameter values at known locations over an area of interest. Various spatial estimationrntechniques based on geostatistics have been developed for determining values for the unmeasuredrnlocations in combination with these values at the measured locations and describing thernspatial continuity necessary for increased understanding of the area of interest. The kriging is arnpopular method of interpolation. However, it requires that an estimate of the correlation structurernbe known or assumed. In this study, an efficient spatial estimation method using a new algorithmrnimproved the SOM (Self-Organizing feature Map) is proposed. The efficiency is demonstrated byrnan example for estimating the spatial continuity of permeability of bedrock.
