Safety of reinforced concrete beams designed according to the ACI 318 and BSrn8110 is assessed. 114 beams for different loads and concrete strengths have been designed usingrnthese codes. Office and store buildings were used. Using second moment reliability method, thernsafety indices (β) are obtained for all these beams. It is observed that uniform reliability is foundrnfor both codes. Higher values of β result for the ACI 318 designed beams due to higher providedrnmoment capacities.
