摘要

Finding a solution to a finite element problem where two or more bodies are in contact requires solving a contact problem. In this case, neither the loads nor the displacements are known a priori, instead the boundary conditions are given by a set of constraints. Here, an approach for solving frictional contact problem using an optimization procedure is presented. The algorithm is intended for nonlinear finite element problems, and the problem is divided in two subproblems: a usual Newton-Raphson iteration with fixed contact nodes and a linear programming problem with the purpose of finding the positions of the contact nodes.
