The corrosion behavior of 321 stainless steel in high-temperature naphthenic acid medium are investigated by using pipe flow. The effects of the erosion angle and temperature on naphthenic acid corrosion resistance of stainless steel are mainly investigated. The results indicate that naphthenic acid corrosion rates increase with increasing temperature. The corrosion rate of 321 at the erosion angle of 90° is greater than that at the erosion angle 0° at the same temperature. The experimental results are similar to those from API 581. The comparison between the simulation results and experimental results shows that naphthenic acid corrosion is most severe in areas with highest turbulence.
