Seismic Rehabilitation Training For One Two-Family Dwellings

A training class addressing seismic rehabilitation of one and two-family dwellings has been developed as part of the FEMA funded ATC 66 project. This training seeks a broad audience of contractors, building department personnel, architects and engineers in order to have a common discussion of potential seismic vulnerabilities, priorities for seismic rehabilitation, and rehabilitation concepts. This paper presents a primary section of the training, addressing potential seismic vulnerabilities and seismic rehabilitation concepts. Eleven commonly observed seismic vulnerabilities in existing wood-frame dwellings are addressed and approaches to seismic rehabilitation discussed.
