We investigate the finite temperature QCD phase transition on the lattice using staggered quarks with two and three flavours. The quark masses in our simulation range from the chiral region (m/T=0.04) to quite heavy quarks near the pure gauge case (m/T=4.0) The resulting phase structure is compared with predictions from linear sigma models.
