摘要

In recent years, the development of Enhanced Extended Detention (EED) ponds has increased in Fairfax County with many traditional dry ponds being retrofitted with features aimed at improving water quality. To function correctly, EED ponds often have site-specific design elements intended to improve residence time, effectively uptake nutrients, or fit well within the surrounding ecosystem. In addition, EED facilities often have pond-specific maintenance strategies involving invasive plant control and the successful establishment of wetland plant communities. With few maintenance contractors specializing in the upkeep of this type of facility, stormwater managers are challenged to find a method of clearly relaying and documenting maintenance goals.
