A new idea and exploration tools is often required in search of new oil and gas prospect zones in the mature exploration areas, particularly in the efforts for the exploration targeted at the oil and gas accumulations related to non-structural genesis and contact with reservoirs and different formations. The AVO technology and its working principles developed in the 1980s make it possible for us to fulfill this objective. Combining petrophysics, AVO and seismic amplitude inversion technology, this paper makes use of the 3D pre-stack seismic data of the eastern part of Junggar Basin and try to find the Lame parameters and rock density multiply (λp-μp) of the gas-containing reservoir in order to predict the rock and fluid properties, namely the λμ-p(LMR) method (Googway et al, 1997). The purpose is to use the inherent elastic parameter characteristics of multi-porous medium to identify rock and fluid properties.
