摘要

Seismic sedimentology overcomes some limits of classic seismic stratigraphy caused by inadequate seismic resolution and difficulties in picking higher-order depositional time surfaces. The main tasks, seismic lithology and seismic geomorphology, can be achieved by implementing ninety-degree phasing and stratal slicing of seismic data, respectively. Seismic sedimentology has become a useful tool for prospecting of stratigraphic traps in mature basins; major benefits include, but not limited to, an improvement to high-frequency sequence stratigraphy and more efficient thin reservoir prediction.
