AlliedSignal has combined its recently commercialized technology in low-temperature oxidation catalysis, low-temperature ozone decomposition catalysis, and ultra-high efficiency heat exchange capabilities into a prototype air purification system. The system is also fitted with a high efficiency filter to remove particulates. The performance of the prototype system was demonstrated by batchwise clean-up of air in an 1130 ft~3 test chamber. The chamber was sealed and challenged with trimethylamine (TMA), dimethyl sulfide (DMS), carbon monoxide (CO), or smoke. The system was designed to operate in the mass-transfer limited regime of the catalyst at 300 CFM.
