System and Method for Separation of Crude or Hydrocarbon Free and/or Disperse in Water

The present paper relates to a system and a method forrnseparating a hydrocarbon containing material such asrncrude oil from water. The system of the present paperrnincludes a treatment tank, a layer of a fluid having arnchemical affinity for the hydrocarbon contain materialrnbeing separated within the tank, for separating thernhydrocarbon containing material from water without anyrnmixing device and with a minimum level of turbulence. Arndistribution system for introducing the water with thernhydrocarbon into the layer of chemical affinity fluid. Thisrnpaper also summarize the results of the pilot test runningrnout with different API gravity crudes, showing therneffectiveness of the chemical affinity fluid for oil contentrnreducing, from water coming from dehydrationrnprocesses
