Production logs (PL) are often run to diagnose unwanted waterrnproduction before seeking remedial actions. The diagnosis, rninvolving accurate estimation of slip velocity during twophasernoil-water flow, is a precursor to taking successfulrncorrective measures.rnThis study entails finding the most reliable holdup or slipvelocityrnmodel by examining 78 production logs, run inrnKuwait’s Greater Burgan field. We observed that most modelsrnprovided the desired level of accuracy when the downholernresults were compared with those measured at surface. Thernnotion of direct use of flow-pattern maps in PL interpretationrnis introduced in this work.
