Oil and Gas industry requires a significant amount of tubulargoods to meet their operational objectives. Drill pipe, casing,tubing and risers must be designed and manufactured toaccommodate present and future tendencies of drillingdeeper, longer, faster and more efficiently while maximizingproduction for every well drilled. The most important featureof aluminum alloys used as materials for tubularmanufacturing is that they provide exceptional strength-to-weightratio. This simply means that the length of aluminumalloy pipe string suspended under its own weight would beabout two times longer than steel. This feature alloweddevelopment of aluminum drill pipe which has an excellentpotential in extended reach drilling of wells of 15 km long.The last five years of field applications in West Siberia haveproven that ADP has high reliability and life expectancy.Equally superior performance is projected for aluminumcasing, tubing, and line pipe. Use of aluminum drilling riserstrings in deep waters of offshore Brazil and GOM helped toestablish that aluminum alloy is very reliable constructionmaterial for some of the most difficult applications in thepetroleum industry. This experience provides us withconfidence in continuing to develop new products for theindustry, such as completion and production risers.
