Fast and Accurate Correlations to Compute the Perforation Pseudoskin and Productivity of Horizontal Wells

This paper provides fast and accurate correlations to computethe perforation pseudoskin and productivity of horizontalwells. Perforation pseudoskin is defined as the differencebetween the dimensionless pressures of the perforated andopenhole completed horizontal wells. Simple formulas arepresented to relate the perforation pseudoskin to theproductivity ratio (PR) of the perforated horizontal wells. Theproductivity ratio, PR, is the relation between theproductivities of the perforated and openhole completedhorizontal wells. A semi-analytical model has been used todevelop the PR correlations. It has been found that the relativeerror of the correlations is less than 6%. The PR correlationscan be used as a quick tool to optimize the perforatedcompletion of horizontal wells. Also using the relationbetween the pseudoskin for inclined perforations (non-zerophasing angle) and PR, the PR correlations provide a fastmeans of obtaining the pseudoskin for inclined perforations.These pseudoskin terms can be used to model perforatedhorizontal wells in semi-analytical and numerical reservoirsimulators.
