144, 225 and 400cm~2 electrolyte/electrode 3-layered membranes were fabricated using a cofiring technique and evaluated. The power densities of 225 and 400cm~2 cells were slightly lower than that of 144cm~2 cell, but the difference of polarization resistivities in these cells was scarcely observed. Decrease in power density of single cells with an increase in surface area seems to be due to imperfectness of gas sealing or current collection. Time dependence of ionic conductivity of 3mol% and 8mol% Y_2O_3 doped ZrO_2 was measured in air, in reduced atmosphere and under the generation condition. Decrease in the conductivity of 3mol% doped ZrO_2 was smaller than that of 8mol% doped one, and decrease in conductivity in reduced atmosphere and that under the generation condition were smaller than that in air. Those decreases were almost complete in 3000h.
