WINDOW ASPECTS OF LOW ENERGY HOUSING – THE LINDÅS CASE

In spring 2001, twenty terrace houses outside Gothenburg were built. They are kept warm by passive methods, using solar irradiation and internal sources, such as household electricity. Heat losses are low, since the building envelope is well insulated and since modern coated triple -glazed windows have been installed. The purpose of this presentation is to point out the importance of the window systems in Lindås, from an energy point of view. The optical properties of the windows have been evaluated, as have the glass and surrounding temperatures. The building simulation tool DEROB has been used to simulate how these terraced houses would perform in different climates and orientations.
