Efficiently identifying and evaluating the producibility ofrnfractures after drilling through potential reservoirs remains arnchallenge to both the oilfield operator and explorationist.rnTimely identification of features crossing the drilled borehole,rnindication of feature permeability, and testing of the well atrnthe most promising depths with the drilling rig still on locationrnare the keys to cost-effective development of tight andrnfractured reservoirs.rnThe Kurrachine Dolomite formation in central Syria is ofrnMiddle Triassic age and has low primary porosity.rnEconomical production from Kurrachine reservoirs isrntherefore highly dependent on the drilled wells encounteringrnzones of permeable secondary porosity.rnThis paper presents a field example demonstrating thernsuccess of wireline-conveyed services in evaluating thernproducibility of the Kurrachine Dolomite. The servicesrninvolve the latest technology sensors for petrophysicalrnformation evaluation, electrical imaging of the borehole tornevaluate the depths of electrically conductive features crossingrnthe hole, acoustic measurements to evaluate the relativernpermeability of the conductive features, and testing of therndepths of interest by sampling, pressure measurement, andrnreal-time formation fluid analysis. Analysis is presented tornshow which wireline measurements are particularly importantrnto the operator in this environment. The paper presentsrntechniques successfully implemented to overcome thernchallenges in formation pressure evaluation and fluid samplingrnof the Kurrachine formation.rnBecause the formation is accurately evaluated in real timernwith the drilling rig on location, the combination of servicesrnpermits efficient, cost-effective decision making forrndevelopment of Kurrachine Dolomite reservoirs.
