Over 50% of rolling element bearings fail due to improper lubrication, while 10% fail at normal fatigue life limit. 3. Approximately 75% of gear failures are due to in-service problems. Of these, half are due to wear and the rest to overload. 4. Over 75% of hydraulic systems fail due to contamination.
