MedStat-F, A Novel Fibrillar Collagen Hemostat: Comparison with Avitene in a Rabbit Model of Splenic Laceration

MedStat-F and Avitene were equivalent in time to hemostasis of splenic lacerations in the rabbit. However, MedStat-F was easier to handle than Avitene. Since healing of all lacerations was complete by four weeks, MedStat-F may provide an advantage since there was significantly less residual fleece, thus significantly less granulation tissue/fibrosis, fibroblast invasion and foreign body response.
