The state-of-the-art of slurry control equipment and its application in slurry make-up automation

The making-up of slurries and two-phase products requires measuring equipment for process and quality control, preferably with online capability for automation. Density measurement is established in mixing plants and offers to calculate solid and liquid shares of a slury. Viscosity measuring equipment would be advantageous, e.g. for preparing slurries for long distance pipeline transport. Due to the non-newtonian flow properties and due to the often abrasive behaviour of the slurries particles, standard viscosity sensors fail.
