We calculated the electric repulsive energy of regularly aligned circular discs of charged surfactants in Langmuir monolayers. The sum of the screened electric repulsive energy and the line tension energy was minimized to obtain a regular conformation of circular discs. The theory is applied to explain previously observed monodispersed nanometer-sized clusters of partially fluorinated long-chain acids on Langmuir monolayrs.
