Use of the compact tension, C(T), specimens in laminated composites testing is investigated by considering two examples. A new computational metodology that scales up constituent meterial properties, stress, and strain limits to the structure level is used to evaluate damage propagation stages as well as the structural fracture load. Damage initiation, growth, accumulation, progressive fracture, and ultimate fracture modes the identified. pecific dependences of C(T) specimen test characterizstics on laminate configuration and composite constituent properties are quantified.
