PROCEDURE FOR PIPING VIBRATION ASSESSMENT, ELIMINATION AND CONTROL

The main aim of this paper is to describe a systematic and structured approach to piping vibration assessment and control. A simplified procedure is presented for use in deciding when a simple assessment may be performed and when specialist/consultant services are required. This is achieved by proposing "three levels" of assessment: from simplified conservative screening to detailed screening and complex analysis. The assessment techniques are based on simplifying assumptions, rules of thumb and trial and error. A typical case study illustrates the use and the flexibility of the above approach.
