Optical-magnetostatic wave interaction problems have been studied in regard to the construction of other optical devices in early years. A number of optical signal processors at high frequency and wideband devices have been made. However,it is not clear that some relationship exists between microwave frequency,high microwave power using Magnetostatic Forward Volume Wave (MSFVW) and optical guided waves. Therefore,this paper reports on optical-MSFVW interaction from an experimental view point. A microwave frequency range of 2-3 GHz was used to excite MSFVW in a bismuth-doped yttrium iron garnet (Bi-YIG) thin film. An optical wave with 1.152μm wavelength was directly injected through the side wall of the Bi-YIG film. We observed the relationship between microwave power,frequencies and optical guided waves. Some results obtained by interaction are as follows: when the input microwave power is about 1W,the light wave intensity varies about 0.4 μV and the frequency shift at the peak light wave intensity is 45 MHz.
