Experiments were conducted to electrodeposit Pt metal and Pt/Ru alloys from aqueous solutions and aprotic non-aqueous solutions. Deposits with finer grain size, attributed to better nucleation, were electrodeposited from non-aqueous solutions. Also, a comparison of potential pulse plating procedures was made to determine the effects of varying the off time. Three pulse plating procedures were applied with the same on times of 0.1 s and off times of 10 s, 30 s, or 60 s. It was found that increasing the off time increases the total charge passed during the experiment.
