HIGH PRESSURE-HIGH TEMPERATURE DEVICE FOR MAKING DIAMOND MATERIALS

摘要

A new system for generating very high static pressure and temperature in a relatively large working volume is being developed. As of this writing, we have demonstrated 10 GPa at 2,000℃ in a working volume of 10 mm~3. Presently, we have refined the design to achieve 20 GPa through 5000℃ in a comparable working volume. The current system has already been used for sintering diamond powders and for synthesizing diamond-like materials from carbon source chemicals.
